Permanent Makeup Correction and Removal

The removal and correction of permanent makeup is another growing request. Fortunately, there are now successful options for those individuals who had permanent makeup applied in a way they were not happy with or improperly.

HB Skin Spa uses the salt-water method for permanent makeup removal

Salt-Water Method

The salt-water method is highly successful in tattoo removal without the probability of heavy scarring. Why salt? Salt is safe when utilized by a properly trained technician. This process is similar to the salibrasion procedure once performed by physicians.

How Does It Work?

The skin is a semi permeable membrane allowing only a certain size particle to get through. By introducing a high concentration of salt water next to the dermis (where the unwanted ink or pigment is) water in the cells beneath and surrounding the pigment (containing lower concentrations of salt and water) will rise to the areas containing higher concentrations of salt. This is called equalization. In the process of equalization pigment is forced from the dermal layer of the skin upward to the epidermis by osmotic pressure in an attempt to become equal to the higher concentration of salt and water. Unwanted ink or pigment brought to the skins surfaces shed in the scab that forms over the procedure site during the healing process leaving new pink skin in its place. Multiple treatments may be necessary according to the shape, size, location and colors involved in the tattoo, and healing factors of the client.

Will I Have A Scar?

Regardless of the method you choose some scarring or color variations are likely to remain. Custom mixed pigment is successful in camouflaging (a permanent makeup service) the scar left behind, but is not recommended until the scar is one year old.

Does The Procedure Hurt?

As with all permanent makeup and permanent makeup removal procedures, there is a minimal amount of discomfort.  HB Skin Spa uses top quality topical numbing creams to alleviate any discomfort you may experience.

How Much Does It Cost?

We will determine at the cosultation what the cost will be.  Pricing is based on size of area needing to be treated and amount of treatments.  Varies between $350 to $750.

After Care

Keep the area that has been treated with salt solution clean and dry until it is fully healed, which could take up to 4-6 weeks.

  1. Do not apply makeup to the treated area as it is healing.
  2. The intent is to allow the area to dry and produce a slight scab/crust.
  3. After 24 hours, a CORTISONE CREAM may be used to reduce excessive itching; except around the eye area.
  4. DO NOT APPLY ANY OTHER OINTMENTS as they moisten and soften the crust of the skin. These products do not allow the pigment to continue to move to the surface of the skin.
  5. Rinse the area three times a day with sterile saline solution to continue to "draw" pigment to the surface of the skin. After the third day, the healing process normally precludes absorption and the client should then discontinue the saline treatment.
  6. DO NOT expose the treated area to the sun or tanning beds during or immediately after your removal procedure.
  7. Use a sunscreen of at least 30 on the removal site after your skin has healed for a minimum of three months.

***REMEMBER***
The appearance of the skin may be slightly pink for up to one year following the removal process. In addition, the lymphatic system will continue the removal process internally, and thus changes will be noted for up to six months after the procedure has ended.
